It was a wonderful couple of hours late on a Saturday afternoon.
Almost 60 poetry lovers crowded into the Lipson Room at Books & Company in Picton.
Brian Mitchell of the County's own Half Moon Bay Winery graciously served those gathered generous “tastes" of his Riesling, Merlot, & sparkling Luna. Smiles were seen throughout the room as people sipped and munched on hors d'oeuvres.
At about 4:30, publisher Brian L. Flack took (reluctantly) to the stage for an initial few remarks about Point Petre Publishing's literary programme. Then he introduced the woman at the focal point of the proceedings:
JC Sulzenko.
She spoke for a few minutes about the experience of putting South Shore Suite ... POEMS together and her feelings now that the book was--finally--in her hands.
Then she read several poems to the great delight of those gathered.
After JC exited the stage, she mingled and signed copies (one after another after another ...) until her arm was weary and the time to bring the event to a close was upon us.
This launch of the 2nd book published by Point Petre Publishing was a success by any measure.
An excellent time was had by all!

He now lives quietly with the painter Susan Straiton ... by the lake in Prince Edward County, Ontario.

About his 36 … Poems, “The Times” said: [It] is a hard and devastating, but ultimately glorious, tribute to a lost loved one. But it is much more than that – it is, in 36 concise poems, an exploration of what it is to be human.

About his novel In Seed Time, the “Ohio Journal” commented: Flack has achieved a remarkable balance of solemnity and humour, complexity and clarity that makes [it] a joy to read.

About his novel With A Sudden & Terrible Clarity, “Quarry Magazine” said: [It] is a richly layered and metaphorically cohesive timepiece ... a poetic and moving novel.
